Are they selfish? or am i rude?

Yeah! Are they selfish or am I being rude in calling them so!!

Of late i ve been coming across people who appear damn selfish to the core !!

Stress the word “appear” because you know one of the gravest mistake a large chunk of people commit is the superficial judgment of others and drawing premature intangible conclusions on them !

Of late i could see this behavior in some of my elite friends( elite here refers to the degree of my friendship). They just get over all the things of the way with a disguise of reaching their goal.They just have only one thing above all others in their mind.Their goal, their well being, and the way that brings the best for them!They just do all those things which paraphrase the oxford dictionary meaning of “selfish”.

March 2010-march 2011

1) Stayed in one of the prestigious management institute in the world IIM Ahmadabad for 4 days with my friends

2) Listed in top 20 Business Simulation Strategists all over India at the finals of National business Olympiad at IIM Ahmadabad

3) Worked a great deal on Robotics and Humanoids and possible investment options during Internship

4) Have been to Kolkata and was interviewed by CEO of Siemens for a job position(The result was positive, but didn’t take it up , will never know if it was a mistake)

5) Got a very good job profile at a Bank. I have taken it up. Little unglamorous but my passion to fire up the most boring things I have done till now will definitely help me.Looking ahead with lots of confidence and passion

6) Won a 100% scholarship for a 9 day trip to Singapore

7) Completed a thesis on Valuing Synergy in M&A’s(largely inspired from Damodaran but still had sufficient content to make moderately ingenious )

8 ) Successfully released 3 editions of United Reflection, in the Editor’s position

9) Had success in couple of light romantic flings, but happily still single now. (Had my first kiss )

10) Started reading philosophy (Esp Osho & Krishnamurthy) and liking it.

11) Topped the MBA Finance course in my college

12) Watched two non “english,telugu , Hindi ” movies for first time in life. One is “My Sassy Girl”- A korean rom com and the other one “Heart Breaker” -A French rom com, liked both of them really good

14) Proud to be a teetotaler

15) Learned Technical Analysis and Fundamental Valuation to a great extent in this one year

16) Started to read and understand all the complex jargons and articles in the pink business papers

17) Made a habit to visit Hanuman temple every Saturday.

Best Deodorants(value) in Indian Market

I have been today to Hypercity  and almost have  spent 30 mins in picking up a right deodarant keeping in mind both the value,fragrance and long lastingness.

Testing a deodorant is a very painful task,especially when you need to smell over 8-10 brands of deodorants in  a short span which almost makes nose indifferent to smell in the next 60 mins.

I am here listing the best popular deodorants  available in market  as on jan 2,2010.

I shortlisted the following

1) John Miller- DarkKnight-Rs 140

2) Gatsby, Musk

3) Reebok- Reeplay-Rs165

Finally i picked Reebok Reeplay, which i think was a good pick ,( considering my friends reactions when they smelled the perfume and immediatley asked which one was that, thats really good) but the other two are also equally good.

Ninnu chudani-

The song has a a retro touch to it, but somehow doesn’t make a mark for itself, as it slowly  submerges into humdrum in the middle .The saving grace for this song are its lyrics and retro orchestration. But still i would suggest a one time hearing because of its somewhat different kind of musical feel which the audience haven’t been listening in the recent times. Lyrics which include “konda daati vacha,konaa dati vacha” are soothening to hear.

Pemalekhanu

This song is unique to telugu listeners , as it has retro feel, but still  it’s a typical bollwood retro feel mixed with qawali kind of drums,smoothly blended into a typical tollywood song. The fusion is reasonably sweet, but a person with a significant  ear for different kinds of music will like it , but other than that it doesn’t have any  significant appeal which will draw regular music listeners to it. Lyrics are reasonable. Overall it scores for its different kind of music arrangements which are different than tha regular mill of other telugu movies

This has a very unique feel and reminds of those 1980′s kind of songs which all of our parents and grandparents would have enjoyed a lot.Its really nice to hear such a nice smoothening song after a long time. I think we need more of such kind of songs in movies.Tthe orchestration is reasonably good, lyrics and enthralling and although tempo is lost a a bit in middle,still its the song keeps the listener hooked to it  The tempo waves a bit , but it does good for the song. Top quality song and a must hear

Karthik Calling Karthik

Saw this movie last saturday, in City pride Pune. Although wanted to see this right from the day i had watched the teaser, didn’t get enough time nor support from friends to watch this one.  But finally used all my marketing skills learned in this one year in my office(This is what i call my college)  and with perfect positioning of the USP’s of the film, i finally convinced a group of 6 to choose Karthik Calling Karthik over Johnny Depp’s Alice in Wonder land. Ya its a  miracle convincing a set  hard core english buffs and Depp’s fans to a bollywood film. I will later write a post on how i convinced(conned)  them to KCK. Its definitely worth reading.

Coming to the film…

Karthik Calling Karthik  starts on a pretty interesting note, with that of an introvert who turns into a ultra cool dude because of a phone call  he receives one night.  From there the first half is an ultra cool ride with sharp,witty,intelligent filmy dialogues and  well placed coming of age bollywood songs and mysterious phone calls , which made the first half quite engrossing.  All the ingredients to make a very interesting premise.

But the second half was pretty obvious and stretched unnecessarily  making a 90 minute film into a 2 hour film. The climax can be predicted if you are a keen observer or an MBA finance guy.( AN abstract ,but very much relevant analaogy).

The USP of the film are

“coming of age romance and relationship, Music especially Uff Teri Ada song “

“The negatives, 2nd half.”

Overall , an interesting movie , a good premise , the cool factor ,especially the songs are really worth mentioning. Don’t forget the lyrics.

Lessons from “The Alchemist”

Paul Coelho , you beauty . Right from the first time i have read the book  “The  Alchemist” , i can still  feel its lessons resonating in me all the time.  There has been  a time where i felt its  an absolute unnecessary thing   to read  a Personality development book because i had always thought who else other than us can lead us in the best possible way  of life. But now i knew i was absolutely wrong . We need a mentor, a mentor who had a better visualization, a better thought and a better experience.

Yes that’s what this book provides you . I have jotted down a few important points which Alchemist like’s to mentor.

1) Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives , but none of about his or her won

2) Books – They tell their incredible stories t time when you want to hear them .But when you are talking to people they say some things that are so strange you don’t want know how to continue conversation

3) People learn early in their lives what is their reason for being . May be that’s why they give up on it so early too. Bu that’s the way it is.

4) Every blessing ignored becomes a curse

5) The closer one gets to destiny the more the destiny becomes that destiny becomes a true reason for being.

6) God created desert so that man can appreciate date trees.

7) Remember wherever your heart is there you will find the true treasure.

8 ) You must understand that love never keeps a man from pursuing his destiny . If he abandons that pursuit, its’s because it wasn’t true love   …the love that speaks the language of the world

9) No heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and Eternity.

There are few other wonderful lessons  we can learn from the book  but i didn’t jot them down because they are pretty much big and can be learn’t only with the context of the story .

If you are  into reading books , “The monk who sold his ferrari” and “Always Looking up :Adventures of an incurable optimist ” are two other wonderful master  pieces of life , and i sweetly call them as my “Mentor books”.

Beautiful but sounds like a typical fairy tale description. THis would be true if there is only one thing in the world called “Love”. But no Love is accompanied by many other factors in the present day and the tranquility and the serenity are just  a pass. Especially it has been heavily tampered in these days by  people and the societal obligations .  There are many people being misled by this fairy tale description which we regularly see in romantic novels,Indian  soap operas and movie  which always have a happy ending  .

So its important for everyone to  not be misled by this fairy tale of description of love .Just live in a practical zone and be prepared for every possible thing happening to you , that what makes u the best in the future . Work  for the best , prepare for the worst and accept the rest  . A simple psychological reading which can play wonders in life.

PS: That simply doesn’t mean love never has a fairy tale. Its just that people have found a new alternate  for love which is break up . In real there can never be an alternate . In these  days a true love is just a centimeter short of  fantasy. Buy still it can exist , but just beware of the people whom u are with.

Because the heart is the most precious jewel a human has  and there are always people around  to sabotage it and to steal it without bartering theirs.  At the same time not everyone is a thief .
